I Green Day, band punk statunitense formatosi nel 1986, sono di fatto uno dei gruppi ad aver venduto più dischi in tutta la storia, contando circa 85 milioni di copie vendute. La band vanta anche 6 Grammy Awards e l’ingresso nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, avvenuto il 18 aprile 2015. I Green Day hanno di recente stupito il pubblico riversato all’evento 40th Street Block Party tenuto ad Oakland. Scopriamo cosa è successo.
Il concerto a sorpresa dei Green Day
Insieme alla cover band dei Green Day (The Coverups), il cantante Billie Joe Armstrong e il bassista Mike Dirnt hanno tenuto un concerto a sorpresa durante l’evento tenutosi ad Oakland. L’esibizione è stata esaltate per tutti i presenti, con i musicisti intenti a riprodurre brani di artisti famosi tra cui Ramones, David Bowie, Rolling Stones e The Clash.
Il tutto è avvenuto mentre la band sta lavorando su alcune novità, come rivelato da essi stessi. Si pensa ad un possibile tour celebrativo per i 25 anni dall’album Dookie, uscito nel 1994, che li consacrò nel mondo del punk. Altri indizi farebbero pensare all’uscita di un nuovo singolo. Non resta dunque che attendere e vedere quali saranno le prossime mosse della band di Berkeley.
